Dan is a Chartered Surveyor with over 10 years post qualification experience who has worked in a variety of roles across the private and public sector based in both London and the north-west of England.
Prior to joining SSH, Dan spent five years working for another developer in the Supported Housing sector. During that period of time Dan was lead Development Manager overseeing projects from inception to completion on a number of high profile schemes. These included an 80 apartment Extra Care scheme in Northampton (the first in the UK to be delivered on an exempt rent model), a 24 apartment new-build Supported Living development in partnership with City of Edinburgh Council and the masterplanning and delivery of a multi-use site in Birmingham comprising Supported Living, registered complex care and autism accommodation and general needs Social Housing.
Dan has a breadth of experience across the whole-life cycle of Supported Living development from Commissioner engagement and assessing need and demand, through to overseeing multi-consultancy design teams, legal negotiations, planning, funding and ultimately delivery of successful, completed projects that provide much needed, life-changing accommodation for some of the country’s most vulnerable citizens.
Chris joined Specialised Supported Housing in August 2018, bringing over 20 years of experience working across the public and voluntary sector in the fields of health, social care and community development. Most recently, he was lead Commissioner for Dorset, working strategically to deliver national priorities of helping people with learning disabilities move out of institutionalised living environments and into their own homes.
Chris is passionate about equality of opportunity and human rights. Throughout his career, Chris has spearheaded the development of commissioning systems that support individual choice, control and the personalisation of services.
He is driven by the knowledge that an ordinary life is achievable for all and that good housing for people within their communities forms the bedrock of this.
The dedication and commitment to finding a better way to deliver housing for vulnerable adults, to hold ourselves directly accountable and to make our schemes personal led us to develop a unique financing mechanism. This involves using our own financial resources to fund each project, drawing no salaries from the business and running a very efficient company allowing us to provide sustainable and affordable accommodation which cannot be rivalled in the sector.
Andy oversees this element of the business. He spent over two decades working for the worlds largest investment bank in various roles, including head of the European funding operation, manager of European debt financing and manager of the global foreign exchange portfolio.
Outside of finance, Andy also has spent time helping to raise money for green energy projects, as a non-executive director of a local disabilities charity and raising two children.
